beatboxing with a thumb piano

This is beautiful atypical beatboxing, not just because of the thumb piano/kalimbra… check it out & you’ll see/hear what I mean!

    Beautiful and amazing! Any idea how he’s getting the kalimba to wobble like that?

    Yeah i wondered the same – its almost like a manual tremelo… could it be hes bending the bridge, like the whammy bar on a guitar?

    Ah no, watch his fingers – he plays the note then he kind of hits a bunch of tines & bends them while the note is sustaining… you can see it at 0.21

    Doesn’t work on my kalimba here though, damn. :-)

    Watch again! You add tremolo to the kalimba by waggling your thumb up and down over the sound hole whilst a note is playing ;)
