I recorded a sequence firing low power roman candles almost directly at my Sanken CSS5, which was about 4m away…. Got lots of great close fizzing passes but one direct hit actually set fire to the Rycote for a moment… but it went out almsot immediately… I later had to edit myself saying ‘sh+t!’ out of that recording
Had two other near misses, one of which was filmed so you’ll be able to check it out yourself next week!! Thankfully it was quite funny & not disastrous – everyone recording suppressed their laughter until the fireworks stopped making any sounds!
