Picked up an Echo Dek tape delay yesterday via TradeMe – it was cheap, apparently has a ‘bit of a warble’ to it but intrigued me as although the endless tapes are apparently quite hard to find, it looks quite easy to make tape loops for… soon find out! Its small enough to almsot feel like a doctors bag: “yes, yes, make way, I am here to adminster the delay feedback…”

Looks like a more uptown WEM Copicat. Very cool.
(Dunno about this machine, but if the endless tape is not required, maybe a spliced together tape loop would do better. Maybe.)
Warble or not, have fun . . .
yes, theres one of those on trademe at the moment too:

tim can you please stop buying up NZs supply of tape delays
ps another 201 up as well!! surely 3 is better than 2 ;-p
Lovely machine, looking forward to some sound clips!
hey leyton i think i got lee scratch perry mixed up with noah & his ark! you know, the black ark and 2 of everything
kinda hoping my space echoes might start breeding….. but one of my 201s is permanently patched to the piano (I dont think I can actually play piano without a space echo) & the other is in my main fx rack for use by everything… but if anyone wants a 201 i’m happy to swap you for a 555 – they are the ultimate space echo imho! mmmm sound on sound…
hi – i came into possesion of one of these recently – a non functioning one that it— do you have the scematics for it so i can do a bit of trouble shooting? just reply in the comments here and i will get it via RSS.
thanks
hi thom, sorry no i don’t have a schematic for it…. I’ll email someone I know who fixes tape echos & see if he does…
Just picked up one off trademe without a cartridge (which sucks) but has the schematic diagram if Thom still needs it…
isn’t that a picture of the schematic on the inside cover of the unit displayed (towards the top of the frame in the bottom picture)?
