First photos with 7D

So my Canon 7D arrived yesterday & I’ve only had time for a quick play with it, but its immediately apparent how much better to use it is than my 40D – apart from being able to shoot 1080 HD video it just feels more highly evolved… Heres a few photos I shot today – nothing too startling as I’m still getting used to it, but need to learn it before my Vietnam trip…

Called in to see Todd, who is building my new (officially licensed Goike) modular synth cases – you can see in the photo below the side pieces he has selected for the 15U. The table they are sitting on is made from the same wood, Matai and it almost glows! Along with the 15U I’m also getting a 6U matching boat made from the same wood, which Todd said was apparently salvaged from the debating chamber at Parliament! I was originally going to have it built from Kauri but decided against it after comparing tables made from Kauri – it is much lighter in colour and because the trees are so big it tends to not have very detailed grain, whereas that Matai has grain that almost reminds me of spectrum analysis!

His workshop is unreal – he’s been collecting wood for decades and has an amazing collection… If you are looking for a table or any furniture made from native NZ timber then he is worth a visit. His company is called Fox and Table, tel Todd 04 499 2172…

A random building under construction by the Wellington airport… love to set a drum kit up in there!
