Hi Tim,
I’d LOVE a Xmas present. Great sounds in the preview. Keep up the great work.
Regards
Sam.
Thanks, Tim. I’m already subscribed.
I already have your tortured piano library and I’m not professional sound engineer but I wondered how can I make a good sound library? My question is about decision, which sounds, duration, and what to record from the objects that I want to record (e.g kitchen accessories, forks, knifes etc.. ) ? Or you pick them just by intuition and sound taste ? Any guide will be helpful.
Thanks, Irena.
Its partly instincts (which are based on 20+ years of working with sound for film & remembering what I’ve needed/whats useful etc) but its also important to remember that no matter what you plan, with an open mind & lots of experimenting you find interesting sounds that were never planned. The next library SPRINGS is a good example – I had a clear idea of what I wanted to record, but along the way I have found new sounds that I didn’t know were possible until I was messing with the props!!
Dear Tim, will it be only bowed cymbals? If, yes i have to write you an email with some tips for other cymbal preperations. I have found out a few ways to get really harsh sounds of cymbals and use them regularly at our live shows.
hey Richard – so far I’ve only recorded bowed cymbals & gongs, but plan to do another session before the full library is released on Jan 12 and include other metal props. So happy to hear your suggestions – please do email me: tim@soundbite.co.nz
