Its World Silent Day 2009 tomorrow!
While this is apparently aimed at reducing activities that produce green house gas emissions, tomorrow is also Nyepi Day – the Balinese day of silence….
I love the fact that if you make a noise on Nypei Day in Bali, you will be arrested!

With a newborn in the house I’m going to have to skip this whole World Silent Day & Nyepi Day thing this year. Increased green house gas emission and noise pollution will be in full effect for a while I’m afraid. ^_^
Bill Drummond (of KLF) wants to make Saint Cecilia’s Day (Nov 22) a “no music day”. He thinks the ubiquity of music is numbing us, reducing the power of music to affect us. So a day of silence might enable us to reset our systems.
