▶ The Rise of the Japanese Toilet

(related, ages ago when in Japan I researched & found a hotel designed by Tadao Ando on Awajishima, so we went & stayed there… photos here It turned out the hotel had been commissioned by toilet company Toto, and each hotel suite had one of their high-end toilets, like more hi tech than any I’d seen in Japan before. But one feature made me laugh – it would ‘sense’ you when you walked into the toilet, and automatically its lid would rise up. Next thing was me acting like a little kid, trying to surprise the toilet by sneaking up & jumping into the bathroom lol… It didn’t change its behaviour, but.. imagine when toilets have AI and it starts giving you attitude!?
