The other day I had a few hours free before dropping a friend to the airport, and since it was a sunny day & we were over that side of town we went for a walk to the old radar station at the Palmer Head fortress… So impressed with all the new graffiti!!

Heres a google maps link – easiest is to park near corner of Ahuriri St and Kekerenga St, as its a short walk with a very well formed path as it also provides access to the new radar station which is in a secure fenced off zone nearby…. Just be aware there are plenty of ways to hurt yourself if climbing up on top of the bunkers and the photos don’t show the cliffs etc… But it has spectacular views to the South as well as of the entire airport…
