Thinking of everyone up North & the impending doom heavy rain & gale winds, on land that is still saturated from the massive storm & floods only a week or two ago.
Forecast is for Welli to have gale winds tomorrow… so I’m charging my batteries & thinking about exposed locations to go record wind. Usually Kapiti Coast is blasted by gale Nor West winds, but this gale is South/South East…

Will be strong winds & big surf out there!! But recording wind is more about the wind hitting interesting structures so can hopefully find somewhere to shelter the mics… I might just have to load up my gear & go ‘wind hunting!’
The bunkers half way up Brooklyn Hill are an amazing sub bass generator in a Southerly so that could be worth revisiting…. Wind turbines tend to be disabled in gale winds, so those won’t be so interesting… I’ve recorded wind in yacht masts etc in Evans Bay, and wind in wires up in Melrose… and wind in cables etc up Wrights Hill…. And the radar up top of Brooklyn… I’ll do some research on maps tonight!
