While the Harajuku, Tokyo based Five G Synth store is very well known, it took me two attempts to locate Implant 4 in Osaka – the first time I was pushed for time and had an erroneous google maps link and visited an interesting part of the city… but this time I doubled checked the location with the map on their website, bookmarked the location on my iPad & set off feeling more confident…. If you happen to be in Osaka, save this location to your google map and you can’t go too far wrong! This is the street it is located on, find the pink slug sign & go up the stairs…
Apart from having a look I was keen to have a play on the Reon Driftbox, a locally made synth/noise box with 2 VCOs and 1 noise source – the VCOs can modulate each other or the VCF, and each of the VCOs, Noise source & VCF can be assigned to drift via the littlejoystick… The guys who run the store are super friendly & were happy to let me have a play on it plus a few other synths etc… I really liked the Driftbox and would have bought one except they are having to revise the circuit due to chip availability and v2 wont be released until later in the year….
I had a play on a Tenori-On as had never tried one in real life – it seemed very intuitive to learn & fun to play!
