Glad you got these spots deserted. At Pigeon Bay in November you would’ve been dealing with a gaggle of teenagers camped out on the end with their UEboom set to 11 😆 (And me bombing off the jetty… actualy, I wonder what that’d sound like from a hydrophone? 🤔)
Totally, and I think even at weekends it would be busier…. When I arrive at any of these locations the first few things that makes me groan are groups of normies or blokes with power tools! Amazing how a visually stunning location can be audibly ruined so easily. Especially the way sound travels across water… Anakiwa was like that – pulled up by the lodge and the road was full of kids running, who had just been out kayaking… Really have to be patient and/or make a call on whether its worth coming back later.
